New Project Profile

Project: Hydroseeding – Jumeirah Golf Estates
Location: Dubai, UAE
Project Owner: Leisurecorp
Size of Project: 92 acres
Products Used: GeoMatrix SS
The Fire Golf Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates is located in the booming city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. This world class golf course designed by golf legend Greg Norman is one of 4 courses built around a 130, 000 sq. ft. Club House. Hydrograss Technologies was selected by the owner/developer, Leisurecorp, to provide hydroseeding services. Logistics alone made for some real challenges as all the hyrdroseeding equipment necessary along with a full shipping container of GeoPerm had to be shipped by boat from the US to Dubai on a very tight schedule. Although the project is nearing the half way mark Hydrograss is on time and on budget for 100% completion by the first week in March. On November 19th, the Earth Course will play host to the Dubai Classic offering the richest prize in pro golf. For more information on the course click here.

Project: The Lodge at Ames Pond
Location: Tewksbury, MA
Project Owner: The Hanover Company
Size of Project: 40 acres
Products Used: Anionic Polymers & GeoPerm Bonded Fiber Matrix
The Lodge at Ames Pond project presented some interesting challenges. Dewatering ponds on the site were contaminating the lake with silt runoff caused by construction activity. Hydrograss was brought in to solve the problem using our proprietary flocculent technologies - Anionic Polymers. In order to stabilize the site and prevent further contamination Hydrograss applied GeoPerm Bonded Fiber Matrix to the 40 acre site.

New Project Profile

Project: University Town Center Phase I - New Mall
Location: Sarasota, Florida
Project Owner: Benderson Development
Contractor: Woodruff & Sons, Inc. – Bradenton, FL
Size of Project: 250 Acres
Products Used: EarthStop 515
Application: 20lb/acre mixed and applied with 5000 gal. Apex Hydroseeder
Problem/Solution: The site is on the border of I-75 South and University Parkway. Fifty acres of the site was stripped of vegetation and the soils were exposed to temperatures of 80 to 90 degrees. Drought conditions caused fine sand particulates (which are common throughout Florida) to swirl into large clouds of dust that impeded drivers vision along I-75 and University Parkway. Hydrograss was called in to cover the existing ground with our superior dust control agent, EarthStop 515. It is an Anionic Polymer with a cross-linked agent that is site specific. It lasts up to 3 months on the surface before photo degradation of the particles begins. This enabled the contractor to begin the next phase of the project and prevented the owner from being fined 50K by the EPA.

January 2007 – Lake Okeechobee – Hoover Dike

"We were looking for a product that would allow us to maximize our working area on the dike, but give us the assurance that in the event there was some type of natural disaster coming up or something that could be projected three or four days ahead, it would give us coverage and a better sense of security than just having exposed soil", says Scott Vandegrift, company project manager.
